Chibi Done Wrong

I drew this picture to prove a point.  If you draw chibi, or any other style and have ever given the excuse above, look at these two pictures.  I drew them both to EXACTLY the same quality, only one of them I added in all the little mistakes people make over and over again and excuse away as part of "the style."

now tell me honestly that getting the proportions right doesn't matter.

there are of course exceptions where it genuinely is part of the style to exaggerate certain characteristics (head, eyes, waist, hips, bust, muscles, manly buldge etc) but there are things that are just universally wrong and hiding behind the mantel of "it's part of the style" is an act of wanton self delusion, and that annoys the snot out of me when people do that.  because it says to me "I don't care about whether it's right or wrong, I just want the praise."  because, if that's your attitude, why should I praise you?
